Dream Write...

I tell my husband I am low maintenance as far as wives go and somehow Not Your Ordinary Girl. I rarely get my hair or nails done and I don't buy three hundred dollar purses or venture to the mall for expensive jewelry. Though he likes to buy me flowers for special occasions, a single rose is just as good as a dozen as far as I am concerned. I love that no matter how much I tell him not to make a fuss for special days, he usually does anyway. I have no doubts when he reads my dream dates, his mind will go whirling around how he can make some of them happen. Maybe I am actually high maintenance after all, because it was hard to narrow down the list of things that came to mind...
 1) I would love to take a jeep excursion to the coast of North Carolina to see the last remaining wild horses in that area. There is something romantic about horses on the beach and maybe we could wind down the evening with a beach picnic, watching as the sun fades in the sky.

2) I've spent five summer vacations aboard a whale watch boat out of Gloucester, Mass. It is truly life-changing to make eye contact with a 40 foot Humpback Whale, only to wonder who is really watching who. How about a private whale watch trip complete with wine, cheese and a zoom lens?
3) Camping! I know some of you are saying...NOT! Well, one of the first things my husband and I found out we had in common was camping. We love it and while its fun with the kids, I remember the days we went camping alone and how peaceful it seemed. No running water or electricity…no problem!
4)  I have an eclectic love of music and love going to concerts. My all time favorite is Alabama. I've seen them at over 300 shows over the years, but don't call me a groupie...I was just a fan and always will be. So how about reliving my past with front row seats for an Alabama reunion concert!
5) On a very rare occasion I'd go for getting dressed up for a fine dinner and night at the theater. How about FIDDLER ON THE ROOF or PHANTOM OF THE OPERA? It cramps my style to wear a dress, but I can bend the rules now and then. This one is just so you non-campers will think there is something normal about me.

Now I have to hope my husband is following this blog like he said. He won’t be surprised by any of this since I am NOT YOUR ORDINARY GIRL

(By the way, SHE AIN'T YOUR ORDINARY GIRL just happens to be an Alabama song that describes me...."Save your diamonds and your pearls...she ain't your ordinary girl!")

Ordinary is overrated! Who strives to be normal? Boring!

I love your dream dates! Yes--even the camping. :) Whale watching would be an incredible experience, I love theater, and I've seen Alabama in concert. Love them!

But I have to say, seeing the wild horses ont he banks of North Carolina would blow my socks off! Oh my. How glorious! Have you ever seen the movie Nights in Rodanthe? The wild horse scene made me cry. lol

Love your dream date ideas, Kim.

Kim, not your ordinary dates either! Wow. I never thought seeing wild horses would be romantic, but you changed my mind. I have a movie in my head now. :) I haven't seen Alabama in concert. Yet.
(My hubby wasn't introduced to country music until he met me.) Years ago, he found out from a friend of mine that I like country music and got tickets for Lori Morgan, Ricky Van Shelton and Brooks and Dunn. (That was our first date--talking about dream dates!)
I didn't find out until afterward that he couldn't stand country music. Well...I cured him. Twenty years later and he likes it!

Nope Jeannie, nothing ordinary but my hubby gets it! Alabama retired in 2003 but they are now touring again...I already have my tickets to the Fox on May 17th! So one dream met, but not front row...can't have everything! :)

Kim,

I love your approach to dream dates. And, I love to camp, too. We tent camped for many years - only in the cooler months when we were in the south. When we moved to the Midwest, be finally bought a 5th wheel.

Thanks for sharing!

Smiles,

Linda Joyce
